Audi FAQ

Audi Specific

Does an Audi steering wheel keep Hands-On Detection (HOD)?
On C8-generation cars, HOD is embedded in the rim itself. We treat HOD retention as mandatory on those builds — a wheel without it can cause driver assistance systems to downgrade.
Will the Virtual Cockpit controls still work?
Yes, provided the switch protocol matches your B9 or B9.5 generation. Later B9.5 cars use capacitive touch pods that are not interchangeable with earlier tactile pods.
Can I fit an RS flat-bottom wheel to a standard A4?
Physically the rim fits within the same platform, but the airbag and paddle connectors differ between S/RS and standard models. We confirm from your chassis code and a photo of your current wheel.

Construction & Materials

What is actually being replaced here?
The whole steering wheel, not a cover over the old one. It is a complete assembly engineered to OEM fitment and function, so the interface with the car is the same as before.
Is the carbon fibre genuine?
Yes — genuine 3K woven or forged carbon. We do not hydro-dip, wrap or imitate carbon. A film can look right in a photograph; it cannot behave like a cured composite.
How is forged carbon different from woven?
Forged carbon is compressed from fragments rather than woven into a grid. The result is a random pattern unique to each part, with strength and durability retained.
Is the assembly lighter than OEM?
It is. Carbon saves mass against the original material, and that mass sits where the driver feels it — at the wheel.

Vehicle Compatibility

How is compatibility verified?
We check before an order is taken. Send the make, model, year and a photograph of the current wheel; the fitment is confirmed against those inputs rather than assumed from a catalogue.
Is the factory airbag reused?
On most models, yes — the original module transfers and the cover is made to match it. If a model needs a different setup, that is identified during the check.
Are the controls retained?
Multifunction buttons, paddles and trim are reused, so the electrical and mechanical interfaces stay as the car was built.
Is RHD supported?
For selected models. Send the vehicle details and we will confirm whether a right-hand-drive build is possible.

Build Options

What can be specified?
Grip material in leather or Alcantara, thread colour, center marking, and the carbon finish. Everything specified is recorded against the order.
Which rim shapes are offered?
Round OEM, flat bottom, D-shape and a racing profile. The shape is part of the core, which is why it is fixed at order.
Are LED shift lights possible?
Optional LED rev displays and shift indicators exist for selected models only. Model confirmation decides it.
Can heating be kept?
Where the car supports it, yes. Heating, vibration and ACC need their own harnesses and modules, must be requested during the build, and can carry an additional charge.

Installation Requirements

Is any wiring work needed?
Normally none. In most cars the wheel is a direct OEM replacement, with no cutting, no splicing and nothing permanent.
How long does a fitting take?
Around 30 to 90 minutes for a professional, depending on model and trim.
Should an owner fit it?
A qualified technician is the safer route, given the airbag and the electronics. For owners who intend to do it themselves, instructions in video or drawing form are provided.
What about fault codes?
A correctly installed wheel does not produce them. If a warning appears, the car should be read before it is driven further.

Safety Engineering

How is safety assured?
OEM cores or OEM-compatible structures, inspected before packing. Reusing the original factory frame is the option we recommend for the closest behaviour.
Is carbon prone to cracking?
Not in normal use. The material and finish are specified to take the loads of a steering wheel in service.
Does the airbag still deploy correctly?
Yes. Factory mounting points are preserved, so the deployment path is not altered.

Lead Time & Freight

What is the production lead time?
10 to 15 business days, counted from confirmation of the build.
Where do you ship?
Most countries and regions. If a destination cannot be served by a carrier, we say so before the order ships.
What is the transit time?
15 to 20 days in transit, giving roughly 25 to 35 business days from order to delivery.
How is it protected in transit?
A formed high-density foam box, several layers of pearl cotton around the carbon, and a five-layer corrugated outer. Each layer has a job.

Cover & Returns

What does the warranty cover?
Manufacturing defects for three years under normal use.
A part arrives damaged — what then?
Contact us within 48 hours with photographs or video. Support will take it from there.
Are returns possible?
Standard items may be returned under the policy, with 30 days to raise an RMA. Custom builds are generally excluded unless the fault is ours.
What comes in the box?
Either a complete assembly — airbag, paddles, buttons and carbon trim, ready for the original plugs — or a bare disc if you want to move your own parts across.
